About this experience

An easy first meeting with these calm animals, ideal for families with young children. The camels wait kneeling, so you climb on with a footstep into a comfortable saddle made at the ranch, then ride in a caravan with your guide. Choose your ride when you book. The one-hour ride heads to the mouth of the Ksob river and the dunes that hide the old palace of the Black Sultan, continues on the fine-sand beach facing Mogador island and returns through the mimosa and eucalyptus forest. The two-hour ride follows the Ksob, home to migratory birds in season, and spends longer in the forest, where land tortoises are a common sight, before the long beach south of the city. Sunset rides cross the dunes to reach the beach as the sun drops into the ocean, with Mogador island in view; the two-hour version first passes the Sultan's palace ruins and the eucalyptus forest. You ride back straight after sunset, before dark. The half day, with an expert cameleer, takes you through the forest to the great dunes and the freshwater springs on the shore, then past Mogador island and the old Portuguese fort to the palace of the Black Sultan, with a Moroccan tea break. The full day goes on to a fishermen's village and the towering dunes of Cap Sim, with a picnic lunch carried in the saddlebags and tea brewed on a wood fire.
