About this experience
Erg Chegaga is larger and more remote than Erg Chebbi, with no road to the dunes: the last stretch from M'Hamid el Ghizlane is about 50 km of desert track by 4x4. It is quieter than Merzouga, with camps spread out among the dunes. The route from Agadir runs through the Anti-Atlas and down the Draa valley to Zagora and M'Hamid. You spend two nights in a desert camp at the foot of the dunes, with a camel trek and 4x4 excursions, and return across the dry lake of Iriki to Foum Zguid before the drive back to Agadir.

Meeting Point
Itinerary
Drive east via Taroudant, Taliouine and Ouarzazate, then down the Draa valley to Zagora. A long driving day. Night in Zagora.
On to M'Hamid el Ghizlane, then about 50 km by 4x4 into the desert. Arrive at the camp for sunset.
Sunrise walk, camel trek, 4x4 excursion and rest. Second night in the camp.
4x4 across the dry lake of Iriki to Foum Zguid, then the long drive back to Agadir via Tazenakht and Taroudant.
Important Information
The dunes can only be reached by 4x4, which is included. There is no mobile signal in the deep dunes. This is a remote area, so it is not suitable for travellers who may need fast medical care. Nights are cold from November to March.
